I called AARP's customer service phone line complaining about duplicate mailings which were also misleading. They were **** renewal notices implying that my membership would expire if I did not respond. I sent in $**.oo and received a new card starting May ****. The problem is, I already had the EXACT SAME card for the same time period and membership number. The young man looked up some papers and came back with a solution I do not like. He said that I paid $** for * years in **** which covered ****-**** and $** more recently covering**** which I alredy had. Does AARP send out free membership cards? If not, how did I get the *st card starting May ****? Michael's solution was that I discard one of the May **** cards. It doesn't sound fair. I trusted AARP and am disapointed tht they sent me a bogus bill for renewal. Michael was kind enough to take me off the foundation's mailing list. He could find no record of my being on it, but I know I sent in a $** donation in Oct. My solution for the this new encounter is that I be taken off the membership's mailing list when my new membership expires. I expect that would be May ****.
Contrary to what was said, I did propose a solution. AARP needs to improve it's servicing. I have no faith in that being done. I asked that they take me off their mailing list after my new membership expires. I want no part of it.
