My Experience Calling 888-638-4327

I have parental controls set on my Netgear router and pay extra each month to customize the settings within my home. However, when I set up the program I may have been a little ambitious, and I think some of the settings are too strict. I'm having issues walking back those restrictions, so I figured it would be best to just contact customer service and talk to someone who could guide me through the process. I certainly can't ask the kids for help!

While Netgear is known for its routers, it sells a range of products, including mobile broadband, hotspots, business products, WiFi extenders, and more. So, I wasn't surprised it took me about four minutes to get to someone when I called Netgear's 888-638-4327 phone number. What was nice was the fact that once I got to the hold line there was no wait. Most of my time was spent working through the phone directory. I suppose with so many products there's no way to get around it. I did get the chance to listen to their extensive directory and learn about some new products, so that was interesting at least.

When I called, an automated assistant said, "Thank you for choosing Netgear. For all data privacy queries, please go to Netgear.com/privacy. If you are calling for technical support, press 1. If you need help selecting a product from Netgear.com, or have an existing order, press 2." I chose 1. I selected option 6. Then, I had two more choices. The system asked me if I needed help with smart parental controls or billing, and I chose parental controls. After that, it was clear sailing. I had to listen to the standard privacy warning, and before hold music could even start, an agent answered the phone. At first, his voice was a little muffled, but the line cleared up and I was able to hear him much better. We talked and joked about the settings I had in place, and he helped me troubleshoot the system. Finally, everyone in my household can access the internet again.
