When I dialed, I was first taken to an automated menu that asked me to make one of two selections if I was either a dealer or looking for an outdated part for repairing an appliance. If neither applied to me, I could stay on the line and wait on hold for the next available representative.

After a hold of about five minutes, I was connected with a Jenn-Air customer service representative, who asked how they could help me. I told them I had accidentally tripped a circuit breaker and caused the power to go out for my refrigerator, and I was wondering how long I had before I needed to worry about what was inside my fridge.

He said that in almost every case, I should be fine keeping what was in the fridge there without throwing anything away. He then asked me how long the power had been out, and I said it had been out for about 90 minutes. He said that as long as people weren't constantly opening the fridge while the power was out, having the power off for that amount of time shouldn't hurt anything.
