Calling Seagate Technology isn't very effective unless you have a specific type of problem that needs to be solved. In most cases, Seagate will try to push you over to the website, and will tell you that it has specialized technicians who can get on live chats with you if you need assistance.

If you do stay on the line, it will tell you that with most of its products, including the Barracuda and Mosaic storage drives that the average person would use, it recommends going over to the website and starting a live chat with one of the aforementioned technicians. However, it does offer you the chance to select this as a phone option.

Doing so is a trap, because if you select option 1 to get help with this kind of issue, you're instead taken to another menu telling you that Seagate Technology does not offer phone support for these products and that you will have to go online if you want to receive support. You aren't given a chance to go back to the previous menu, and you aren't given a chance to make another selection. The system simply hangs up on you, ending the call.

You can try to work around this by hitting option 2 for the large data storage systems use, but considering that the technician on the other end will ask you for the product information for your storage system when you call, working around this isn't going to be helpful.
