What are the hours and when should I call?

McDonald's operates the call center for this 800-244-6227 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 4,407 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this McDonald's phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like McDonald's staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.
The least busy time to call

The best time to call
In summation, the best day to call McDonald's is Thursday. It isn't the least busy day, but the fact that hold times are shortest combined with it being on the busy side tells us that McDonald's staffs up on Thursday to handle the higher call volume, and that makes it the best time to call.

My Experience Calling 800-244-6227

Mar 11, 2024

Calling McDonald's customer service was a pleasant experience from beginning to end. When I called, I ran into no wait times, as I was automatically connected to a representative within a minute of dialing. She asked me for my name, which I provided, and asked how she could assist me.

I told her that I was wondering how long I had to use the points I had obtained in the application, as I had previously had my points expire before I could use them. She said that I would have six months from the date of the purchase in which to use my points, and that if I looked in the application, I could check the transaction history to determine just how many points I needed to use.

I then asked her if there was any way to reset the clock on when points expired, and she told me that there wasn't any way to restore points on my account if they had expired, nor was there a way you could make a purchase at McDonald's and save all of your old points. Once the time hit six months since the time of your oldest purchase at McDonald's, those points would expire and be lost for good.

She said that she had been in such a situation before, and when she had been close to having her points expire, she would get something small, such as hash browns or a small drink. I asked how that worked, and she said that each time you used anything on the McDonald's app to cash in for a purchase, the system would automatically pull from the oldest possible points that I had acquired.

She added that I could also set the application to give me notifications when I was getting close to having my points expire, which would send me an e-mail when I had one month or less to use my points. By getting a reminder in place, I could make sure that I wouldn't let any points go unused.

She then asked me if I had any other questions that she could assist me with, and I told her that I didn't have anything else to ask her. She then thanked me for calling McDonald's and wished me a pleasant evening.

Overall, I thought this was a strong interaction from start to finish with the representative. Even though I didn't ask a very challenging question, the representative took it very seriously and made sure to fully answer my concerns. She gave a full breakdown of how the program worked and how the loyalty points I used could be staggered in a way that wouldn't ruin any points I was saving, and she even explained how I could best use the program and my rewards to work for me.

I didn't have to wait for anyone at any point, and I didn't have any confusion in answering questions. Based on this interaction, I would absolutely use this number again if I needed assistance.
