My Experience Calling 888-811-2644

My mother needs to replace the wooden shingles on her home, but most homes don't have wooden shingles anymore. I was struggling to figure out what to call it because most people seemed to think that she needed siding when I went to Angi to look for help. After a few people called and mistakenly thought that I was talking about roofing, I stopped taking phone calls. Then Angi sent me an offer for a pre-paid service, but I didn't want to agree to it until I was sure that we were talking about the same type of shingles given the previous miscommunications. 

I decided the easiest thing to do was just call Angi and talk to someone to see what the details of the estimate were. I really couldn't tell from the pre-paid service offer, which I know is kept vague because that's why the price is lower, but in this situation, I needed to know. Angi offers a lot of services and works with a lot of different contractors, so I really had no idea what I was getting into when I called but for the quote, it was worth finding out. 

When I called, an automated voice stated, "Thank you for contacting Angi. Your call will be answered as soon as possible. If you are a homeowner calling to get support, please press 1. If you are a pro calling on behalf of a business, please press 2." I chose option 1, and then that led to more options which were, "If you need help with finding a pro for a new home project, press 1. If you have booked a pre-paid service through Angi or one of our retail partners, press 2. If you need help with a project request you’ve already requested, or just have a general question, press 3. If you are a gold, silver, or platinum member or calling to edit a review, please press 4."

This time I chose option 2 and then was sent to a hold line. It took about 15 minutes to talk to someone, but it was very helpful to talk to someone. They were able to look at the details of the quote and let me know that it wasn't what I actually wanted. While I didn't get what I wanted in the end, I did appreciate that they were able to clarify it for me. The agent spoke clear English and was very helpful. She even suggested some new terms I might try to help convey to contractors what I really needed. I would call again if I had to because my experience was decent.
