You may or may not have heard about the recent
failure of
T-Mobile. If you have not here's the summary. About a week ago T-Mobile sidekicks had a "data outage", a system error that made information unavailable to all sidekicks. Not just some, but all. This meant no phone numbers, photos, appointment reminders, etc etc.
T-Mobile said the outage was temporary. They then announced that the information was lost forever.
Now to be fair the system holding this information was Microsoft, not
T-Mobile. But
T-Mobile is the company selling the hardware and promising data security. It is because of this that one
Customer asked
T-Mobile to buy back her sidekick. She spoke to seven different Customer Service Representatives who ran her in circles before
T-Mobile declared they would not work with her or discuss any option
There is some debate who to blame here. Many think Microsoft, but
T-Mobile is the company that subcontracted the data storage to Microsoft, produce the product, as well as advertise and sell it. It is
T-Mobile who let their customers down (Microsoft's only customer was T-mobile) and likewise it is
T-Mobile who needs to clean up the mess
