A new group called Jobs4America plans to create 100,000 customer service jobs by 2013. The coalition is comprised of high tech companies including Sprint, and XO Communications, plans to expand current call centers by adding jobs, as well as bring back more jobs that have been outsourced overseas. One area that will be the focus of the group is the installation of broadband into rural areas. The actual broadband installations will create jobs, and there will be a need for more customer service representatives to service those new customers. While the Jobs4America initiative won't make too much of a dent in the national unemployment statistics, it will provide quality jobs that often pay higher wages than minimum wage jobs. Most importantly, those of our readers who are frustrated by hard to understand foreign customer service representatives, the likelihood of getting someone on the line that doesn't have an accent will be much better. We like seeing job creation in the country, and it's great to see that some of the higher profile tech companies have committed to the program. To get to 100,000 more jobs by 2013, that means the hiring will have to begin quickly, so hopefully users will start seeing shorter weight times and better overall customer service in the coming months.
