Yesterday,National Public Radio interviewed US IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman. In the segment Shulman discussed a number IRSrelated topics, but one that he continually emphasized was improving customer service. Shulman stressed the importance of customer service for any company, but especially for one in which "every adult American" is a customer.

Shulman highlighted a few plans to provide better customer service to tax payers. This includes a major reworking of the IRS website, including an easily accessible FAQ section, is in the works. Shulman also noted that the US IRS has added announced "wait time" to phone call, he notes that a wait time may be "twenty minutes" in the afternoon, but only "two" minutes in the evening.
