It's going to be a busy week for our friends at
Blackberry . First and foremost, the company issued a statement to it's customers yesterday that their data and personal information on the phones is secure.
Blackberry recently came under fire when the United Arab Emirates issued a statement that they were going to ban
Blackberry service due to the fact that
Blackberry servers that held information were held outside of the country. The U.A.E. wanted the servers to be placed within the countries, so they would have jurisdiction over them. The company responded by claiming the location of the servers does not prove anything, and that even the RIM employess could not access information on the
Blackberry system. That's good news for all you
Blackberry users that were considering calling the company to inquire about security issues with your hand held.
In other news,
Blackberry plans to make an announcement today regarding a new touchscreen phone that will be released as competition to the iPhone. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception the company gets for the new phone and operating system it plans to last after there was a bevy of customer service complaints surrounding it's previous touchscreen launch of the Storm. The company received so many complaints about the Storm that it had to scramble to provide an upgrade in the software in order to fix a multitude of bugs in the phone. Hopefully the company gets it right this time.
