This post could just as easily be for Apple, but we get tired of talking about how great Apple is all the time, so let's focus on the underdog RIM which makes the
Blackberry . JD Power recently awarded the iPhone the top distinction as the best cellphone and customer service in the cellphone market, but a new study completed by a market research firm called ChangeWave concluded that not only are all of the owners of iPhones the happiest with their products, but even the owners of older models of iPhones are more pleased with their products than
Blackberry owners. What's interesting is while
Blackberry has recently launched new lines of phones to try and compete with the iPhone, of the people surveyed, more than 50% of
Blackberry owners claimed they would switch to an iPhone, if it were available on their network. Things will certainly get interesting in the cellphone market if the much rumored Verizon iPhone launch comes to fruition.
This certainly doesn't bode well for RIM. The company has long been marred by poor customer service and mediocre products as the company was happy to rest on it's laurels with it's devoted followers scooping up any product they would launch. But customer satisfaction with the company is waning after the launch of the iPhone, and RIM is forced to play catch up. One area they can focus is on their customer service. Customers will stay devoted to a company if they continually receive good service, even if the product is slightly inferior. If RIM really want to make a stand, they'll realize that customers aren't as devoted to a brand as they once were, and will quickly change companies if they feel they aren't receiving good service. If the company really wants to stay competitive, they should work on keeping their customers happy, first and foremost, and then focus on creating products that will be competitive with their chief rivals.
