Heads up to all of our readers with a Visa or Mastercard, your credit information could have potentially been hacked. The two credit card companies are investigating whether or not customer personal information has been compromised in the breach. According to the two companies, the breach occurred at Global Payments, a company that is hired to help process transactions from merchants for both Visa and Mastercard. The breach could potentially affect one million to three million card holders. Both Visa and Mastercard have not announced when they will let users now if they have been affected, but they will reach out to customers who have been affected to help them replace existing credit cards if necessary. Both credit card companies claim they are investigating a breach that potentially occurred in January or February and that hackers could possibly have gained access to customer names, credit card numbers, validation codes, and in some cases customer addresses.

It's more than a little alarming that it's April now and the news of the breach from January is just coming out, but we'll save the financial services commentary for another time. In the meantime, concerned customers should call the companies with any questions at all. Check out our GetHuman listings for the fastest way to get in touch with the companies here for Visa and here for Mastercard.
