We normally travel AA, but my husband had to buy my ticket quickly and just picked United Airlines through expedia. Originally, I was going to stay in San Diego for 1 month, but my husband's contract there extended, so I rang United Airlines to change the ticket date.

To my surprise, I was told my ticket was only valid for 2 months. I thought it was bizarre, then, rang again to confirm, only to receive the same information. We thought it was probably due to expedia rules, so we paid $250 for a changing fee. A couple of weeks later, my husband rang to find out what would happen in case we canceled the ticket re: refunds, and how much a new one would cost. Then, we were told we didn't need to cancel our ticket because it was good enough to be changed again and used for up to one year (not good for just 2 months like we were in our first few calls). So then we paid yet another $250 and extended for another month and didn't complain about an]]></description>

Comments from customer: united hate customers. my most recent horror story: they left me a voicemail saying they had my bag at the claim area, but when i showed up, the clueless agents could not find it. then there was no way i could get back to them. the number they called from when leaving the voicemail was withheld, and all customer service lines lead to India (after a torturous automated maze). no-one could/would give me the direct number for the baggage desk. i was unfailingly polite, but united just treat customers as annoying units, especially if they have any problems. this sort of thing happens repeatedly with united. on no account fly with them if you have a choice. this airline squarely deserves to fold.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[United Airlines rating from customer: 2.0 out of 5: Poor.  Comments from customer: Our bags had been lost last night and were not delivered this morning as promised.  We used this feature after a frustrating attempt to work our way through their automated system.  I think we were connected to some guy in India.  He was very difficult to understand because of the accent and because the connection was poor.  He finally tracked down our bags (more than the automated attendant could do) but told us we wouldn't receive them until 3 AM our time.  Had to ask if he could do better and he found a flight arriving at 7:30 PM.  Poor service but at least it was a live person.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[United Airlines tip: I booked roundtrip tickets from Bangkok to the States online using VISA card on 9/15/09.  I got confirmation number, eticket numbers, seat assignments at that time.  When I checked in for my flight on 11/25/09 I was informed that my tickets had been canceled and to contact my credit card company.  I had to buy new tickets at a considerably higher price to get home; besides the money involved, I lost my good seats and Economy Plus upgrade, and my usually mild demeanor. VISA says there was an initial fraud alert on my card, which was immediately lifted and per my credit card records, the payment was made on 9/17/09.  United says they never received payment and therefore canceled the tickets. Nobody bothered to inform me of this cancellation, and I mean NOBODY. We are in dispute resolution.  Thus far no credit has been issued by either party. I don't have "warm fuzzies" about United or VISA at this point in time.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[United Airlines tip: its impossible to get someone to make restitution for a bad flight. its impossible no one knows an answer and sends you to another person to wait on the phone for 20 minutes. the business i have lost trying to get a ticket that was promised me because of united having overbooked a flight is incredibly poor customer service. i finally just gave up which i think is uniteds way of dealing with mistakes.]]></description>
