Google rating from customer: 2.0 out of 5: Poor. Comments from customer: Will not assist with forgotten passwords for ANYTHING! Told to go through web support which is fine, except the questions they ask don't really truly verify my account as I can't remember the last five people's email addresses I emailed! UGH!

Google: Ok! We Hear You Nexus One Users!

Good news for all you Google Nexus One customers out there, Google has finally had enough and has launched a Customer Service line just for you. Frustrated, slightly curious, or fully curious Nexus One customers can call 888-48-NEXUS (63987) and reach a real live person to discuss all of your customer service needs. The company has been taking a beating in recent weeks for not having a dedicated number to handle all of the problems with the newly launched HTC phone, and it appears Sergey Brin and Larry Page have listened. We here at Get Human have not had a chance to test the line yet, so any readers who are experiencing problems with their Nexus One, please let us know how effective or ineffective the line is in our Review section.

Google rating from customer: 1.0 out of 5: Horrible. Comments from customer: After 98 minutes I hung up, so my review isn't exactly accurate for the quality rating - I rated communication in the middle so as not to affect the results too much, but any wait over an hour is horrible service.

Google's Customer Service Shortcomings Revealed

Google has become a way of life for most of us. We use their search engine, their free e-mail service, the company's name has even become a synonym with the act of finding information on a subject. So it's no surprise that people expect a lot from Google. This past week Google revealed it's Nexus One smart-phone. Google prepared an impressive device and an interesting sales model . What they didn't prepare for was the rush of support needs.

Google only provides support via email and makes it very clear that responses to support requests could take a few days to respond too. This may have worked for Google's online services, but it is causing a tremendous amount of frustration for customers whom have urgent questions on the status of their orders or technical problems. As any mobile service provider will tell you, customers are extremely demanding when it comes to their mobile service and a well designed phone is only one piece of the package.

Google has admitted it needs a serious reshaping of its customer serivce. Let the Gethuman community now if this is empty lip-service or is Google handling customer needs seriously.

Google rating from customer: 2.0 out of 5: Poor. Comments from customer: I called the number that you provided and once the women answered the phone, I explained that I had already been through the forums and everything else online. I have been dealing with a email/apps problem for over a year with no resolution. the girl just kept repeating that there WAS NO ON PHONE CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!! Everything is done online:(

You have to hope that a google employee take pity on you and decides to help you online but first they have to pick you!!!

I like Google email but they are no different than any other corporation that does not want to deal with the public.

Goog411 Provides Free, Automated Phone Number Lookup

REPLY: A live person at a fair price would be great, IF it existed. However, given that it doesn't exist, GOOG411 is a reasonable alternative, hitting on three items that are huge for most consumers: It's cheap, convenient and safe. It quickly finds the phone number that you're looking for and connects you at no additional charge. No irritating ads and no need to take your eyes off the road while you write done the phone number. I tested this product several times and had the same easy experience each time.

COMMENT: Have you tried goog411? I have and wasn't impressed. Besides, isn't goog411 sortof the antithesis of what this site is all about? Wouldn't you rather talk to a live person at a fair price (assuming that service were available)?

ORIGINAL POST: I've gotten some feedback on this post Goog 411 is a free, automated voice service to lookup phone numbers. (Damn the phone companies for charging us $1.50 for each 411 call.) Did I mention that Goog 411 was free?
