The rep asked me to fax my contract, which I did. The rep than merely said the contract didn't match their computers. Say what?

He merely said "sue us."

I finally asked to speak with a mgr. and she informed me that she doesnt install satellites and that I as the paying customer should have known to tell the tech. the satellite was not going to work behind a 50ft pecan tree where he installed it!!! I am a school bus driver, I have no formal training on installing satellites either you idiot!!!]]></summary>

After 3 e-mails back and forth with them and only getting responses that look like the responding CSR just cut and pasted verbiage off the website without even reading my e-mails, has forced me to give up on them.
If you have a problem that is not covered by anything on their website, don't bother contacting them.

Specifically, many of the complaints have been about hidden fees that were not clear before canceling the service.<br /><br />Other customers have complained that <a href="/DirecTV-customer-service_249.html">DirecTV</a> extended their contract for another 2 years after a service as simple as replacing a box.  The <a href="http://www.bbb.org/" target="_blank">Better Business Bureau</a> has logged over 20,000 complaints in the past few years for <a href="/DirecTV-customer-service_249.html">DirecTV</a>, and now grades them as a "No rating" company. Seems like it might be time for the satellite TV company to re-examine its transparency to customers.<br/><br />

<summary type="html" ><![CDATA[DirecTV tip: Became a new customer with DirectTV. In less than 24 hours decided to cancel service, enjoyd DishNetwork better.  DirectTV was relunctant in cancelling service without a charging a cancellation fee.  We requested to cancel in less than 24 hours of installation.  Aprox. 7 days later DirectTV debited our bank account 462.71.  We have demanded a refund and was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks to refund, or we could take their service back and they would give a refund in 7 days.  We do not want their service and have notified the Better Business Bureau, which states ONLYSthe BBB located in Calif. handled DirectTV complaints.  Currently waiting for refund..."Wize Guys", the distributor for DirectTV located in Spartanburg SC has reported to us they can't even get a good contact or response from Direct and they are a distributor for them.  In contacting Direct we have delt with cust svc people in the Philipines and various foreign countries...listened to back ground noise as if people were par]]></summary>

Two days later they took $103.10 out of my checking account without my permission.My Attorney states that this is illegal!They told me they mailed the check for said amount on Aug.27 and still have no check.These people are theives and I have contacted the BBB!Never WILL I EVER USE THEM AGAIN!! ]]></summary>
