<summary type="html" ><![CDATA[In an effort to increase it's customer service, <a href="/American_Airlines-customer-service_51.html">American Airlines</a> has expanded an experimental program that it launched at Boston's Logan Airport, in July.  <a href="/American_Airlines-customer-service_51.html">American Airlines</a> has taken customer service representatives out from behind the check-in desks, and has placed them throughout the terminal and armed them with mobile devices that allow them to check customers into their flights, further decreasing wait times.  The customer service representatives can hand out flight information, provide information on stand-by lists, check customers bags, and handle carry-on bags that are too large for the overhead bins.  <a href="/American_Airlines-customer-service_51.html">American Airlines</a> is hoping that providing better customer service will bring return customers, further driving revenue growth...what a remarkable concept!  So far, along with Logan, <a href="/American_Airlines-customer-service_51.html">American Airlines</a> has added Dallas Fort/Worth, Miami, San Juan and New York's JFK, but the company is further examining the success of the program and is considering adding other airports later in the year.

The quality of the agents varied widely in terms of whether it seemed like they were really trying to help or just trying to get rid of us. It's also worth noting that the website and the automated IVR system have less information than the agents so it's necessary to talk to an agent to get the correct, up to date information. ]]></summary>

I have to use my ticket credit within one year of the booking date, and it will be subject to $150 rebooking fee.  Additionally, I bought the ticket through Travelocity, so I will be charged an additional $20 fee.  The value of my ticket is $218.20.  I got $48.20 back.  Not bad.]]></summary>

<summary type="html" ><![CDATA[American Airlines tip: Delayed baggage due to cancellation of flight after luggage checked in.  had to take another set of flights to get to final destination and told luggage would be on same flight next day.  Trying to followup and improve the information about the baggabe using the baggage locator page provided no help. Calling let to voice tree hell with same information as on web site and no way to edit the baggage description.  Went back to voice mail and after getting into the baggage branch starting hitting 0 a couple of times until I got a real person who was able to answer all kinds of questions about the process, clear up issues, improve the baggage description and add contact information.]]></summary>

<summary type="html" ><![CDATA[American Airlines tip: I bought some additional miles so that I could get a "free" ticket.  Be careful, there is a $30 fee added to that transaction and excise tax.  So much for not OVERTAXING the middle class.  

By the way, when the gas prices were at $4 a gallon they put in place the extra money for baggage.  Last I checked the gas prices are at $2 per gallon and we STILL have to pay for our luggage.  ]]></summary>
