Aetna tip: I quite literally can not get to a representative on aetna. I am not a member and not a medical professional, and want to know about whether my doctor is covered if I switch to aetna during open enrollment. However, if you don't have or don't know your aetna ID, then you can't get past the voice prompts and it tells you to call 911 if it's an emergency, tells you the hours, and hangs up on you.

There is quite literally no way to talk to a person if you don't know your insurance ID. I tried saying I don't know, and it told me I needed to talk to a rep, told me the hours, and hung up on me.

Things I've tried: hitting 0 a lot (got hung up on). Saying representative (got hung up on). Saying nothing (got hung up on). Saying help (just asked me for my ID number again). Saying "I don't know" got me hung up on.

Pretty great, eh?

Aetna tip: In some of the phone trees, and at some prompts, just saying "representative" will move you to the queue for a live person (sometimes you will have to say this several times).
