AT&T: DFL...Yet Again

In a move that should surprise no one, Consumer Reports has ranked AT&T Wireless the worst cellphone provider in the country. The company came in dead last in customer service, staff knowledge, ability to resolve issues, and data and voice services, resulting in a score of 60 in the report. The next closest company was T-Mobile with 69. Now, I don't know about you, but I can't name more than two people I know that use T-Mobile, so that's really saying something about AT&T Wireless. Those of you with the iPhone are probably reading this and nodding your head in agreement with the survey's results, but it goes without showing that just because a company has a great product (the iPhone) doesn't mean people are going to drop what they are doing to switch, if the company cannot support it. In the end, it takes more than a solid line of products, and now more than ever, customers are searching for more bang for their buck, and want solid customer service to go with their exceptional products.

What's incredibly interesting is the company's response to the last place finish from the nation's top consumer products surveying company. An AT&T Wireless executive responded by claiming "We take this seriously and we continually look for new ways to improve the customer experience. The fact is wireless customers have choices and a record number of them chose AT&T in the third quarter, significantly more than our competitors. Hard data from independent drive tests confirms AT&T has the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network with our nearest competitor 20% slower on average nationwide and our largest competitor 60% slower on average nationwide. And, our dropped call rate is within 1/10 of a percent – the equivalent of just one call in a thousand –- of the industry leader." Notice anything there? There isn't one instance of the executive addressing customer service. Instead it's the same old song and dance from AT&T Wireless claiming they have the fastest network. Well what about the fact that customers claim your staff has no idea what they are doing, has no desire to help customers, and is the main reason why people leave the AT&T Wireless network in the first place? Sure people may be signing up, but what about the rate at which customers are leaving the cellphone carrier?

All this proves is once again, AT&T Wireless clearly has no idea what they are doing or talking about when it comes to consumers, and the weak product they consistently deliver to them. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to make some calls on my Verizon phone and keep my fingers crossed these iPhone rumors come to fruition.
AT&T: iPad Breach Has Now Been Closed

For those of you who recently added an iPad to your personal technology collection, be aware those of you with the AT&T Wireless network for the iPad may have had your personal information released accidentally. AT&T Wireless acknowledged the breach of their database the other day and the company has since claimed to have fixed the problem.

A small group of computer hackers were able to hack into AT&T Wireless' website, gaining access to 114,000 iPad user's information. AT&T Wireless claims the information leak occurred out of accident, as the company was using user's email addresses to automatically transfer information, allowing users to more easily renew AT&T Wireless subscriptions. As always, if you have any concerns about your personal information possibly being leaked, feel free to contact AT&T Customer Service.

AT&T: Possible Implications of Losing iPhone Exclusivity

With all of the rumors floating around about Verizon Wireless possibly adding the iPhone to the list of phones it currently sells, we thought we would take a look at the possible implications for AT&T Wireless. The common complaint that most customers have is, while they love the iPhone, they cannot stand the AT&T Wireless network and it's problem with dropped calls. While it is still just a rumor that Verizon Wireless will be getting the iPhone, one analyst is predicting a susbtantial outflow of customers leaving AT&T Wireless for Verizon Wireless. Up to 6 million customers could potentially leave AT&T Wireless, which represents 40% of the AT&T Wireless customer base.

While these numbers may seem high to some, we still find it interesting that analysts are still concerned about the porous AT&T Wireless network, and are already trying to quantify the effects it may have on the company. AT&T Wireless has recently begun spending on infrastructure in order to solidify its network, and the company plans on increasing the termination fee to $325 in order to deter customers from leaving, but something tells me die hard iPhone fans won't be put off by the fee in order to gain functionality with the phone. As we all know, customers know what they want, and when the situation arises, they are willing to pay a premium for it. While these estimates may be on the higher end of the range, clearly AT&T Wireless should be concerned about the implications of an empowered consumer base, should it lose it's exclusivity agreement for the iPhone.

For more about the implications of AT&T Wireless possibily losing the iPhone exclusivity, click here.

AT&T Wireless: Step Into My Office...

File this under "Duh!!!", but in a recent Consumer Reports survey of cellphone carriers,
AT&T Wireless came in dead last. Confirming what most had already known, most subscribers jumped to
AT&T Wireless to get an iphone, however, most polled were unsatisfied with their service. According to the report, Verizon was the best in terms of customer service and voice and data service, followed by T-Mobile, Sprint and then our good friend
AT&T Wireless. Interestingly enough, 98% of iphone owners in the survey, claimed they would stay with
AT&T Wireless despite the terrible service, and below average ratings in every category in the survey except for "Web" and "Texting".

To view the results of the survey, click here.

Or to see one of the many blog posts with an overview of the results, Click Here
